Puttenham continued their pre-season fixtures with a hard fought but well deserved victory over premier division side, Ockham.
Utd started slowly and were caught out by a long free kick that was caught by the wind and looped over Mike Matthews in goal. Thereafter Puttenham took control and created several chances to level before Jack Eddy finished from a tight angle on the stroke of half time.
Utd continued to play the better football in the second half, defensivly restricting Ockham to a few half chances. The Ockham keeper was much the busier throughout until midway through the second half Paul Shepherd latched onto an excellent throughball to finish into the far corner for what proved to be the winner. Puttenham created several more chances to increase the scoreline, but could not find the finishing touches following the good approch work.
The workrate and general team effort proved that the hard pre-season training sessions will reap rewards once the competetive games start.
